Oil and Gas
Recession – I lived through the oil crash in Houston in 1985. I had spent the three previous years raising venture capital for drilling funds through limited partnership offerings. Thankfully, I took a contrarian sales approach and sold the investments on a worst-case scenario based on the assumption that every well would come up dry. As a result of this approach, my investors were still talking to me when the ventures became uneconomical because of the drop in price per barrel from $34 to $9.75.

Current work in the oil patch is focused on leadership and manager training. In addition, three oil companies are employing me to deliver Effective Business Presentations to help reduce preparation time of technical presentations, make them shorter and more engaging, and to minimize dependence on PowerPoint slideshows.
Also subject matter experts (SMEs) are tasked with sharing their knowledge and expertise by providing training and coaching. Some SMEs are unschooled in instructional design and learning and development best practices. This TRAIN-THE-TRAINER course fills the resulting or potential performance gaps.
